Ah! My Goddess Ch. 279 Manga Review

Ah! My Goddess Manga/Oh My Goddess! Manga
ああっ女神さまっ Chapter 279

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Ah! My Goddess Ch. 279As the flowers blossom at an explosive rate, Hagall begins a desperate search for Belldandy and Keiichi.  In a thicket of flowers, Keiichi asks the recovering Belldandy about this, since her power was gone. She explains that the flowers weren’t a result of her power, but the result of his kiss, causing a manifestation of what is in the heart.

Belldandy hushes Keiichi as Hagall draws near. Keiichi suddenly finds Belldandy even more attractive, as Hagall decides that if she burns all the flowers, her problem is solved. The miniature Hild within Keiichi gives him some instructions, so Keiichi complies.  He kisses Belldandy, causing a tsunami of flowers to erupt. Hagall is about to burn the lot down, when Keiichi emerges from behind her, grabbing her arms and out of her line of sight. With that, Keiichi blows into Hagall’s ear, causing her to react and threaten to burn him.

It is then that Hagall discovers she has no control over her arm and that Hild is at work somewhere. Inside of Hagall, Hild gets Hagall to issue the commands to release Hild’s complete body.  Hagall realizes that a piece of Hild has invaded her and tries to get Hild to stop, implying she doesn’t know what she’s doing. Hild says she does understand, as she’s carrying out her responsibilities as Daimakaicho.

With that, Hild forces Hagall to issue the final words to release her body, causing the capsule holding Hild to be opened and Hild to be revived.

Thoughts/Review:

Heh!heh! So, the Daimakaicho, “Hild-sama,” is back, with only small percentage of herself missing (the piece in Hagall, the piece in the pendent, and the 1/10th version on Earth with Peorth and Lind.

I’m probably overthinking things, but Hagall seemed concerned about what might happen if Hild were released, and I don’t mean concerned as in Hild punishing Hagall.  I just wonder if Hagall has done things that if Hild were restored, there would be disastrous consequences for all involved.

Finally, after the SHOCKING (and long awaited) kiss of the last chapter, Fujishima-sensei gives us another one, this time initiated by Keiichi?  *lol*  Yeah, this series is coming to an end in the not to distant future.  *lol*

As for Keiichi finding Belldandy more attractive, I don’t think that was Hild’s doing. I’m betting that was the new contract, thus a deeper sense of connection with her.  Even though Hild may have prompted Keiichi to kiss Belldandy, he didn’t hesitate to do so, whereas before, he probably would have hesitated. It would be nice if Keiichi and Belldandy were more like a romantic couple, but the whole flower thing might allow Fujishima-sensei to preclude it, assuming the manga goes on for a while.

Not much else to say about the chapter, but it was fun.  We’ll see where things go from here.

My copy of volume 20 was shipped yesterday, meaning im free to catch up to the end of volume 40!

Talking about this chapter though the best thing that happened was how K1 showed no hesitation in giving Belldandy a smacker on the lips!

You know I’m starting to have doubts to whether this development signifies the end of the series. I understand why fans (including myself up until recently) may think the end if nigh, but what if Fujishima just felt like it was the right time to sort out their iffy contract? Their original contract forces a goddess similar to Belldandy to be with him at pretty much all times. This is why Peorth came into the mix, and it might account for why Urd and Skuld are around too (according to the contract, they are similar to Bell genetically?). Anyway i digress, the new contract sets K1 and Belldandy together, no one else. Its a contract of partnership, not simply for ‘being there at all times’. In a way it means they can do tasks separately without having to always be in each others shadow. As long as they are there for each other, its fine.
The other thing worth mentioning is that the old contract may have forced K1 to be with a good mixture of similar goddesses in his everyday life, meaning his love relationship with Bell was hindered by K1 being forced to be on a somewhat equal relationship status to all other goddesses in his life. Now the contract is between K1 and Bell only, their natural love relationship is free to blossom without interference.
Is this the end of the series, or a somewhat more exciting element to the series initiated to make the series less stagnant?

The long-running theory has always been that IF Belldandy and Keiichi made progress on their relationship, the manga was just about over. *lol*

I’m not even sure if they were still under a contract or not. It was canceled once before, IIRC. Belldandy stayed because she wanted to, is my memory of how things went.

A huge flower eruption after K1’s kiss, wow!

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      Everytime he kisses her, apparently. ^_^;

    • Lan says:

Not quite every time. Its when its a ‘true’ kiss. this accounts to why it didnt happen during their second kiss during the new years game back in the early chapters. That kiss was under the influence of the games magic.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

It also provides an excuse for Fujishima-sensei to not have them kiss, so that there aren’t 100lbs of flowers to clean up afterward. My goodness, if they consummate their relationship, Japan would drown in flowers. *lol*

I do wonder if some sort of limiter will be introduced, maybe as a wedding ring? I was about to call it a sexual limiter, but thats not right…
